CD Packaging: Standard CD jewel case
The jewel case is the most common and affordable CD packaging available. It is a 3 piece construction with a removable tray. The standard colour for the jewel case tray is black but it is available in several colours including white, red, blue and clear. The front of the jewel case can hold a booklet of up to 32 pages. The back of the jewel case normally holds card, printed one side, with two spines. The card may be printed on both sides if a clear tray is used. As seen in many music stores, the jewel case may be cello wrapped (usually cost effective for quantities from 500 and above) to protect it from marking as well as protecting the inside content.
CD/DVD Packaging: Cake box
The most common method of bulk packing or storage of your CDs. Cake boxes have a clear cover which fastens into the base with a bayonet fixing. They are reusable and virtually shatterproof. Cake boxes are available in CD capacities of 10, 25, 50 and 100. Are also most commonly used for those buying personalised CD/DVD's in bulk, also known as CD letterheads.

CARDBOARD SLEEVES
Environmentally-friendly, plastic-free alternative to jewel cases. This
one-piece trayless pouch is made from sturdy recycled board stock.
A bit costlier than jewel cases, but less than half the weight - so you
save at the post office! Pocket folder option allows for insertion of
booklet or folder. No minimum order on standard cardboard sleeves, minimum order is 1000+ on other sleeves.
CD/DVD Spiders & Foam Buttons: If you need to attach your CDs to promotional material or mailouts, CD spiders are very useful. The spiders are vacuum formed plastic with adhesive backs. Once the paper liner is peeled off, they can stick onto just about anything. CD spiders are very much like the moulded spider found in the centre of the jewel case tray. Available in black, white and clear; they are economical and effective. Foam buttons are used in the same way as spiders. They are compressible bits of foam about 5mm thick with adhesive backing. These buttons can adhere to paper, plastic, cardboard and vinyl. They are mainly available in sheets of 150 in black and white.
CD/DVD Packaging: DVD case
The classic DVD case is the industry standard DVD packaging. Exactly like the cases that hold your rented DVD's from the video store, DVD cases are often used for CD packaging as well. The standard DVD case holds one CD/DVD, has a clear outer film which holds a printed sleeve or wrap and inner plastic clips which may hold a DVD booklet. The push button hub design varies between manufacturers; the most popular being produced by Amaray. Variations of the DVD case hold up to 4 or more DVD's often with a hinge mechanism. Slim DVD cases are also available which are ideal for mailouts or to save on shelf space. The most common colours are black and clear.
